Gear Linkage Joint.

Rubber gear linkage joint. This rubber part is designed both to damp vibration and to provide protection from collision by shearing to prevent intrusion of the gear linkage mechanism into the cabin. Over time, however, the rubber can deteriorate and soften or tear, making it difficult to change gear.
